Host City - Bratislava, Slovakia

Bratislava, the capital of Slovakia, lies on the southwestern part of the country with the Danube River running through the city. It borders Austria to the west and Hungary to the south. Furthermore, Austria's capital Vienna is only 60 kilometres away. Approximately half a million people live in Slovakia, about a tenth of the entire population.

Bratislava is the political, cultural, and economic centre of Slovakia. It is the seat of the Slovak president, the parliament, and the executive branch of the government. It is home to several universities, museums, theatres, galleries and other important cultural and educational institutions. Many of Slovakia's large businesses and financial institutions are also headquartered there.

Slovan Bratislava (blue and white) are the number one football team in the region, though it is Zilina (yellow and green) who are the reigning league champions and currently on course to retain it again.
